I2A – management consultancy firmClient and Objective I2A, a management consultancy firm, were on the move, they were moving from the city to a new office space in London Bridge. They got in contact with The London Quest Company to organize their summer party, they requested a Quest that would be engaging, fun, show off the area that they were moving to and allow the employees so show off their own creative skills. The organisers from the I2A team sent a brief synopsis of each of their employee’s eccentricities to us. We took this information and designed a Quest with a narrative to suit and gave each of our characters characteristics that matched or highlighted these personas. Detail that gives each Quest a unique touch. The Quest It all began two days before the afternoon of the activity. One of our actress’ had her name, Emily Goowin, announced to the team. Our actress ‘Emily’ was acting as a friend of the I2A Managing Director and was about to join the employees to gain valuable work experience. On the day of the Quest she dually arrived and joined the team for drinks and a meal in a local gastro pub. Little did the team know what lay in store for the poor actress and the emotional dilemma that would present itself to the staff. As the dessert plates were cleared the scene began. In swept two ‘Clockwork Orange’ Droogs and navigated themselves around the table sizing up a potential victim. Their attentions finally resided upon our actress and with swift movements they snatched her and were out the door. One of the more burley members of the I2A team immediately rose from his seat in order to prevent the Droogs. His intentions commendable, his reactions not swift enough, the Droogs were gone. An American director, Buzz Allen, quickly entered the pub and introduced himself to the employees, he explained that he was putting together a festival of art on the South Bank, but a major investor had pulled the money out. The investor’s daughter happened to be Miss Goodwin. He asked for their help in locating Miss Goodwin and handed over the information that he had on the case. Now in teams the I2A employees found themselves on Shad Thames with binoculars staring at Miss Goodwin on the other side of the Thames. They crossed the river and found her handcuffed to the railings unable to escape, she gave them more information about the captors and sent the teams on their way. After meeting again with Buzz they found out that they must raise a ransom and also support Buzz in his attempts to find new innovative art forms to raise the profile of the festival. After witnessing poor Emily being dragged from pillar to post by the Droogs, the teams found themselves sampling wine in Vinopolis, entered the Tate Modern looking at contemporary art forms and finally travelled to a little know gallery on Southwark Bridge Road. Here they found Buzz, who engaged them in a theory of ‘The Power of Loss’ and asked them to write poetry about their travels around London Bridge. Finally the teams had to take their ransom, poetry and ideas for the festival to the Droogs and uncover the location of their hostage. They were directed to their new office where, locked in a cupboard, was Emily.
After rescuing her and the arrival of Buzz at the offices, the teams discovered that Buzz had orchestrated the kidnapping in order to stimulate the emotion, within Emily’s father, of the ‘Power of Loss’. His aim had been to force Mr Goodwin to realize what it felt like to have something ripped away from you and how Buzz may feel now he no longer had his Art Festival. With the Quest concluded the actors scored the teams in their speed, ransom originality and wine tasting abilities. These scores in left one final task, the poetry. The poems were delivered with authority and the team’s knowledge of the iambic pentameter, stanza and lineation, created wonderful imagery from the day. The Quest team totaled the scores and the winning team announced. ‘Thanks so much, that was a really fantastic day, everyone enjoyed it so much. I loved the details – the pixie boots and the parle francais comme l’italien (I’m not sure if Tim spotted that but it made me laugh) and the poetry competition and poor Georgia in the cupboard for 40 minutes! It was a tricky one to pull off as these guys can be quite cynical, but everyone was saying how good you all were and how much they’d enjoyed it.‘ |
